Accomplishments: MSG Magnusson contributed to the prevention of casualties during both his terms in Vietnam by detecting, evaluating, neutralizing, and disposing of hazardous, clandestine explosive ordinances. He worked on the security team for President Lyndon Johnson. His unit helped ensure the safety of Vice President Hubert Humphrey during his second visit to Vietnam during the Inauguration of President Nguyen Van Thieu on Oct. 29 - Nov. 1, 1967. During the 1972 Presidential Campaign and Inauguration, MSG Magnusson's EOD Unit assisted the U.S. Secret Service in protecting the presidential candidates as well as the President of the United States.

Accomplishments: Completed nine missions as a member of a B-17 crew over European territory. Operated a 50 caliber machine gun from a tail position to fire at enemy aircraft and protect from enemy attack. Loaded, aimed, and fired gun, stripped and reassembed gun and was responsible for the routine maintenance of the gun.
