He worked on the security team for President Lyndon Johnson. His unit helped ensure the safety of Vice President Hubert Humphrey during his second visit to Vietnam during the Inauguration of President Nguyen Van Thieu on Oct. 29 - Nov. 1, 1967. During the 1972 Presidential Campaign and Inauguration, MSG Magnusson's EOD Unit assisted the U.S. Secret Service in protecting the presidential candidates as well as the President of the United States.
